Following their qualification at the State Championships in March，我们的学生 学院的十 club recently made a successful trip to the 学院的十 国际 Career Development Conference 在华盛顿特区.C. Four members of the current DECA group represented 满帆, along with club sponsor 杰基Otero, program manager for Entertainment 业务 和 音乐行业.

These students are all in the Entertainment 业务 Bachelors program, 和 included co-presidents MarkAnthony布朗 和 艾伦种子，以及…… Raven-Ariel Jackson 和 菲利普·斯托克斯.

“The 国际 Conference is as big as it gets for us,” says 杰基Otero. “Anyone who qualified at their own state or regional level gets to go, 和 there were students from the United States, 加拿大, 英格兰, 关岛, 和 Puerto Rico represented – about 1500 total.”

During the conference students had the opportunity to attend development academies, tour the Capitol building，以及…… compete with others from around the world. This included categories like 业务 to 业务 Marketing, in which they placed first at the state level，以及…… Project Management 和 Marketing Management. At the end of these events three students walked away with 奖 of Excellence, 和 two came in as finalists.

“It made me feel really proud knowing that they could compete with all these other business schools – they represented us really well,杰基说。. “The students had high expectations 和 that’s what got us there. They set the bar 和 rose to it. It was great too because they were also able to network 和 develop themselves more professionally, 和 I think it made them feel a part of something greater.”

D.C. trip brings to a close the first year of our 学院的十 group 在高音上, 和 Jackie is already looking forward to bringing in new members 和 becoming more involved in the DECA community when they reconvene in the fall.

“We keep getting more people emailing us from non-business programs that want to get involved, so word’s getting around,她说。. “This group is really for anyone interested in being business leader in their area, because it combines competitions with community service 和 professional development.”

“Next year I want to connect with DECA alumni in our area to bring to campus 和 have them share what they learned 和 how it helped their career. There are also high school chapters in Orl和o that I’d like to connect with so maybe our college students could act as mentors as well.”
